The Time Machine Guy is:

Carl Piermarini   -  piermarinicarl@comcast.net

Two of the first science fiction films that Carl Piermarini ever saw as a child were War of the Worlds and The Time Machine, both produced by George Pal. To state that these movies, especially “The Time Machine,” left a lasting impression on Carl is…well quite an understatement.

A lifelong resident of Leominster Massachusetts, much of Carl’s childhood was spent either behind a home movie camera making special effects laden short films to show to family and friends, or building model replicas of favorite TV and film scenes.  This experience led to producing and directing award winning student films while attending Emerson College in Boston during the late 1970’s.  Influenced by the works of George Pal and Ray Harryhausen, Carl experimented by making countless stop motion animation films during this period, which resulted in professional work as an Oxberry Animation Stand operator and motion picture film camera technician.

In the early 1980’s, Carl took a position with PBS flagship station WGBH in Boston as a film archivist and program materials specialist. In addition to raising a family during this period, much of his spare time was spent performing as a professional musician in several bands and orchestras. By the 1990’s Carl was refocusing his creative energy back to film production by producing documentaries for broadcast on the PBS network.

In 1996 while discussing George Pal’s 1960 film The Time Machine with a co-worker,
Carl was put to a challenge. Could he build an exact functional full size replica of the original 1960 time machine prop to use in a Halloween display? Well…he wasn’t sure, but his obvious interest and respect for this film would be put to the test. Finally, five years after that challenge was issued, his determination and perseverance paid off. Carl’s time machine has been featured in many newspaper articles, on websites and television programs…and now…his very own website….www.timemachineguy.com.

Carl is now Executive Director of the award winning public access television station, Leominster Access Television in Leominster Massachusetts. Much of his spare time now is devoted to producing the highly acclaimed “Tina Cooks” television show featuring his wife, Chef Tina Piermarini. He also finds time to display his time machine to fans of the 1960 film. Don’t miss Carl’s silly sequel to The Time Machine called All the Time in the World…Again featured on this website!
